Port Deliveries of Heavy Skidders

Hauling Port Deliveries of Heavy Skidders

At Streamline Heavy Haul, precision and planning are the foundation of every successful project. Recently, our team coordinated and hauled a complex move involving the delivery of skidders through the port, utilizing RGN extendable trailers across four separate loads. Each load required careful planning to ensure compliance, safety, and on-time delivery.

Our first step involved close communication with both the shipper and the port authority. This included:

  • Scheduling equipment release and crane availability.

  • Ensuring proper documentation for port clearance.

  • Verifying cargo details for accurate equipment selection.

Because these shipments required moving through a high-traffic port, timing and paperwork were critical to avoid delays and storage fees.

Project Overview

The task was to deliver multiple heavy-duty skidders from the shipper to their final destination, with staging and clearance through the port. Skidders are specialized forestry and construction machines, and their large size and weight make them challenging to transport.

Equipment Selection – RGN Extendable Trailers

Due to the skidders’ oversized dimensions, we used RGN (Removable Gooseneck) Extendable Trailers. These trailers allowed us to:

  • Accommodate length and weight safely.

  • Load at ground level for easier rigging and securing.

  • Adjust trailer extension to balance axle weight distribution.

Each of the four loads required tailored securement with chains, binders, and protective padding to ensure safety during transit.
